Charitable businesses celebrated after raising nearly half a million pounds for GNAAS

Businesses from across the region have collectively raised nearly half a million pounds for our charity in the last year.

To celebrate this remarkable total, we hosted special appreciation events at our headquarters near Eaglescliffe and our base in Langwathby, Penrith, to celebrate and thank local companies who have supported our charity throughout 2024 and into 2025.

The events featured talks from GNAAS staff, including a member of our critical care team, as well as a moving account from a former patient.

Guests also received a behind-the-scenes look at our facilities and aircraft, gaining insight into the scale and impact of our work across the North.

Amongst those in attendance were businesses involved in our corporate partner scheme, which was first launched last year.

To become a corporate partner, businesses need to raise a minimum of £5,000 for GNAAS.

In return they are presented with a glass display plaque which highlights their charitable efforts, as well as gaining a range of benefits, including first refusal of sponsorship opportunities, invitations to charity events, and access to our facilities, as well as as the opportunity to have their logo featured on our aircraft or rapid response vehicles, if they raise a certain amount.

Over the course of the last financial year, approximately £270,000 was raised by North East businesses, and £222,000 was raised by Cumbria businesses.

Joe Garcia, chief executive at GNAAS said: “It was great to welcome our corporate partners to our bases and thank them for their continued support in helping to fund our vital service and keep our helicopters in the air.

“At the moment GNAAS requires £9.3 million a year to remain operational and ensure our critical care team are able to help those in need across the region. This is why we’re incredibly grateful for the support we receive from businesses and individuals, and look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
